One person dies in County Durham following two-vehicle crash on country road

One person has died after a serious crash in a County Durham village.

Emergency services were called to the two-vehicle collision on Langley Lane in Burnhope just after 8.30pm on Saturday.

A Durham Constabulary spokesperson has confirmed that one person died as a result of their injuries.

The force has not yet named the person who died, but he is believed to be a young man.

The road was closed while a collision investigation took place but it was reopened by Sunday morning.

Officers investigating the crash are appealing for any witnesses who might have seen what happened.

Anyone travelling on Langley Lane between 8.30pm and 9pm on Saturday is asked to contact Durham Constabulary on 101 quoting incident number DHM-18072020-0466.

Any dashcam footage of journeys along that stretch of road have been described as "especially valuable to the investigation".
