One person dead after fatal crash in Edinburgh as cops close Stockbridge road

One person has died following a crash in Edinburgh this morning as officers remain on the scene.

Emergency services raced to Saxe Coburg Place in Stockbridge around 10am on Friday morning after reports of a one-vehicle collision.

Locals reported seeing a large police presence in the area as the road was closed off.

Residents are being urged to avoid the area and take an alternative route if possible as the road is likely to remain closed for some time.

Stockbridge Primary Parent Council tweeted about the incident to warn other road users of police activity and road closures.

Officers remain on the scene as they continue enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers are currently in attendance following a one-vehicle fatal road traffic crash which happened on Saxe Coburg Place, Edinburgh, at around 10am on Friday, 21 May.

"The road remains closed and officers continue with enquiries at the scene."
