'One or two things bubbling away': Steve Bruce on what he expects from transfer deadline day

Steve Bruce has revealed he doesn't expect to be busy on transfer deadline day - but refused to rule out possible loan deals.

Bruce stated he was ruling out any further cash deals after Newcastle brought in the likes of Jamal Lewis and Callum Wilson for £35million in total plus free transfers for Jeff Hendrick, Mark Gillespie and Ryan Fraser.

When asked about further business, Bruce said: "I don't expect to be that busy.

"If something becomes available I will act. We went to work early to avoid the hectic scramble.

"However, if a good players becomes available on loan then we will look at it."

Bruce was then asked about spending more money, and added; "I am ruling that out yes."

The Toon boss made it clear that Newcastle's main aims - to beat the deadline - had been achieved.

Bruce said: "We made a conscious effort to get them here.

"We wanted them in before the season started. Of course there is always going to be scramble.

"But I don't expect to be busy at all."

When pressed on further loan deals, Bruce said: "There are one or two thing bubbling but we will see."
