One-off £2000 grant now available to West Lothian businesses

A discretionary business fund has been launched by West Lothian Council.

A one-off £2000 grant is available to eligible local businesses - especially those firms experiencing immediate financial challenges as a result of the Covid-19 restrictions and regulations - that have not been able to access the Strategic Framework Business Fund or other business grant funds provided by the Scottish Government.

In particular, this fund will aim to assist businesses that have been without financial support since October 2020.

Businesses must be eligible to apply and details are available on the council’s website, including an online form to submit an application.

Executive councillor for development and transport, Cathy Muldoon, said: “Many small businesses will be able to access this funding and our team are standing by to help.

“We do appreciate that the various packages of support that are available to businesses may be confusing to some and that not all businesses are able to access this, or other forms of funding. “Often there is strict criteria around who can apply for grants that the council must enforce that criteria.

“The discretionary business fund aims to help many smaller businesses that cannot access other funding streams and I’d encourage those businesses and individuals to find out more.”
