One of Waterloo's most popular restaurants Eataly is expanding into the city centre

One of Waterloo’s most popular restaurants is launching a brand new venture - and it's right in the city centre .

Arguably one of Waterloo ’s best kept secrets, Eataly is set to open its second venue at Red Brick Hangar Market in the Baltic Triangle.

Eataly in the Market will be the hangar’s only food and bar stall, serving up the same menu as the St. John’s Road site.

Much-loved The Queen's Royal pub and restaurant in New Brighton has closed unexpectedly

The menu is set to include everything from meat planks, cheese boards and pizzas to beers, wines, cocktails and coffees.

Customers will also have the chance to pick up some of their favourite items such as oils, breads, chutneys, meats and cheeses at the deli counter.

Alongside this, there will be a pizza-making area where customers can watch as their dough is freshly made.

Eataly owner, Terence Williams said: “We want to bring a taste of Italy to local independent people and make it as close as possible to the real thing.

“We have been on the lookout for a while now and visited this site numerous times; it felt right, there’s a great atmosphere - we hope to bring the taste of Italy to all those walking through and visiting Red Brick.

“We feel it’s the right time and place to take Eataly to the next level, with the Waterloo site being so successful, the thing with Eataly is that there’s so much we can do with it so who knows what’s next for us.”

Work on Eataly at the Market is already well underway and is already taking shape - and it could be open as soon as Easter weekend.
