One of the oldest pubs in Anfield - The Flat Iron - has transformed into a boutique hotel

One of Anfield's oldest pubs has been completely transformed into a ‘luxury boutique hotel.'

The Flat Iron , which was previously known as the Breckside, has been part of the Anfield community since the 1850s.

Owner of The Flat Iron, Alan Brown bought the pub from Punch Taverns six years ago and has since invested more than £500,000 in refurbishing the pub and hotel.

"Downstairs we are keeping it quite quirky with all the memorabilia - which the pub is known for - but upstairs it's very much a boutique hotel."

Being so close to Anfield, The Flat Iron is known for being a matchday pub but Alan sees it as much more than that.

He added: "Because the pub has been beside the ground since the stadium opened, many fans have attached themselves to it and its known as a matchday pub.

"But it’s also a local pub. There are not many bars and pubs left that are open a full seven days a week like we are, so even though it's a big fan pub it’s still very much a local pub."

Since Alan and his team have refurbished the pub, the glowing reviews have been rolling in.
