Former Leeds United forward Robbie Fowler believes Marcelo Bielsa will thrive up against Jurgen Klopp, Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho this season.
The Whites, who will kick-off their schedule with a trip to Anfield to face Liverpool this weekend, ended their 16-year absence from the top-flight of English football last season by scooping the Championship title.
It was the perfect way for Leeds to finally secure a route back into the Premier League after the heartache of losing in the play-offs at the semi-final stages 12 months earlier to Derby County.
And while Fowler acknowledges that the fixture list hasn’t been kind to his old club, he doesn't see them being dragged into a relegation battle this season.
“I'm hardly a Leeds United legend - but that doesn't stop me being delighted to see my old club back playing in the Premier League,” the former forward told the Mirror.
“In my two years at Elland Road I averaged a goal every two games - so not too shabby - but I was badly hampered by a hip injury in my second season.
“Leeds fans, though, have always been pretty decent to me and it's great that they're back in the top-flight after 16 long years. On paper, the fixture list hasn't been kind to Leeds.
“They face Liverpool, the Premier League champions, at Anfield on Saturday night and the expectation will be for Jurgen Klopp's side to put down a marker. It might be a tough evening for Marcelo Bielsa's men.
“But I really don't see this season turning into a relegation fight for Leeds - and I say that with my head as well as my heart. In Bielsa they have got one of the most astute managers in the world.
“I think the Argentinian will thrive pitting his wits against the likes of Klopp, Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho.”
