'One of the best' Heartbroken pals and family pay tribute after body of missing man found

Heartbroken friends and family have paid tributes to 'one of the best' after Scots cops made a tragic body find in search for a missing man.

We told last nigh t how police had made the grim discovery near St Fergus in Aberdeenshire.

The family of missing man Mark Russell have been told of the find.

Mark, 45, had last been seen on Sunday, July 25, in the Crimond area of Aberdeenshire and concerns were growing for his safety.

Cops closed off the A90 today as they continued to deal with the find.

Emotional tributes have since poured in for Mark on social media.

Relative Chelsea Anne Russell, who had shared missing person appeals online, shared the police post on the body find and wrote: "This isn't confirmed yet although we believe it may well be."

Stuart Montgomery added that Mark would be 'missed'.

He wrote: "RIP Mark Russell, may you fly high with the angels. You will be missed. "

Lauren Foreman wrote: "Thoughts are with your family and friends Mark."

Meanwhile Emma Wilson wrote that Mark was 'one of the best'.

She wrote online: "So, so sad, absolutely gutted, Mark you were one of the best... r.i.p pal... don't party to hard up there xx"

Joan Beagrie wrote: "So sad to read this. Rest in peace Mark. Thinking of all the family at this sad time."

Police said in a statement from north-east division last night that the tragic man's family had been informed.

It read: "Police Scotland can confirm that the body of a man has been found during searches in the St Fergus area, Aberdeenshire.

"The family of Mark Russell, 45, reported missing from his home in Crimond, have been informed.

"Formal identification has yet to take place and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal in due course."

Traffic Scotland warned motorists of the closure earlier today due to 'ongoing police matters'.

The body wrote online: "Bear Scotland have advised that the A90 at St Fergus will be closed today at 12pm due to ongoing Police matters.

"The diversion will go from A952 at Cortes, A950 at Mintlaw to A90 in Peterhead and vice versa. Diversion signs are in place."
