‘One of the best’ – Chris Sutton hails Nottingham Forest great amid cheeky message

Chris Sutton branded John Robertson ‘one of the best’ after being reunited with the Nottingham Forest legend.

Robertson, a key man as the Reds won the European Cup in 1979 and 1980, worked with Sutton during his time as assistant manager to Martin O’Neill at both Celtic and Aston Villa.

The pair have stayed in touch with Sutton tweeting a picture of them together this week and cheekily claiming one of Robertson’s European Cups.

“Two European Cups between us…Great to meet up with a real legend today. One of the best. How much would John Robertson be worth in today’s market? Brilliant player, lovely man,” wrote the pundit and former Blackburn Rovers and Norwich City striker.

Sutton enjoyed one of the best spells of his career working with Forest icons O’Neill and Robertson at Celtic Park.

After Gordon Strachan succeeded O’Neill in 2005, Sutton soon left the Glasgow giants.

After a brief stint with Birmingham City, Sutton was signed by O’Neill and Robertson at Villa.
