One of Scotland's most beautiful distilleries is offering micro-wedding packages for those who couldn't get married during lockdown

One of Scotland's most picturesque distilleries is offering micro-wedding packages for those who couldn't get married during lockdown.

Lindores Abbey Distillery, which was built in 2017 close to the spiritual home of Scotch whisky where the earliest written reference to Scotch whisky was recorded, is giving whisky fans the chance to enjoy a ceremony and reception in one of the country's most idyllic distillery sites.

Located in Newburgh Fife, close to the ruins of the original abbey where Friar John Cor was instructed by King James IV to make 'Aqua Vitae', Lindores recently re-opened for small whisky and history tours and tastings.

The team are also now providing three separate wedding packages for any couples that had to postpone their wedding due to the coronavirus and "don't want to have to wait".

They have a wedding tent for couples wanting an outdoor meal, and are also able to seat at least 15 guests around the Cloister table inside the distillery.

In addition to this they can seat up to 8 guests in the atmospheric Apothecary.

And, should the weather not be perfect for the ceremony then there is a rustic barn which has spacing for guests seated on straw bales.

As part of the offering, private chef Andrew Wilkie will be on hand to create an exciting meal and canopies on the day.

Guests will also be able to enjoy their own Aqua Vitae cocktail, as we as house wine and prosecco.

Co-founder Helen McKenzie Smith, who opened the distillery with her husband Andrew, said they are delighted to be able to welcome couples back to the abbey, she said: "We were so sad to have to re-arrange the weddings we had planned over the summer, but are very pleased to be able to safely offer our micro weddings in the beautiful abbey grounds.

"They are the perfect combination of intimate and glamorous, and show that you don't have to sacrifice style and celebration with a smaller event."
