For years, Swan Valley visitors and tourism businesses have called for a bus service to link people between the region's key destinations.
They have now got their wish, with a circle-route bus service launched today to link many of the Swan Valley's key venues and Guildford train station.
"We've seen people walking up and down the highway with a map in their hands looking for the next place, in winter and in summer," Swan Valley Tourism Alliance chairman John Rex said.
"It is way overdue … the community has been calling for it for a long time."
The service, launched by bus company Adams, will operate every half hour from Wednesday to Sunday, and at 90-minute intervals on Monday and Tuesday.
The route will form a circle around West Swan Road, Great Northern Highway and Reid Highway, with tickets allowing passengers to hop on and off as they wish.
The service will have about 20 stops, with Adams Group managing director Adam Barnard saying nearby businesses had made financial contributions to be part of the service.
"This is very long overdue, it has been talked about for many years," Mr Barnard said.
"When the City [of Swan] approached me, I saw that opportunity to be able to put forward a model that was commercially viable."
Transport Minister and local MP Rita Saffioti said she expected there would be strong demand from tourists for the service.
"People want to be able to visit the places in the Valley in their own time, getting on and off with safe access to travel, and I think this is something that will be very well supported," Ms Saffioti said.
"It is really useful and accessible for overseas and interstate visitors."
Tickets will be $20 for adults and $15 for children, with City of Swan residents able to purchase a $60 annual pass.
