'One of our own' - Tottenham fans love former star Andros Townsend's social media post

There were 57,000 fans roaring Tottenham on inside the new stadium on Tuesday night.

And one of them was a former favourite.

An entertaining match ended with Spurs in the ascendancy thanks to a Son Heung-min strike 12 minutes from time against Manchester City.

The Champions League quarter-final first leg clash was quite the battle. It was not a game littered with clear-cut chances, but it was a high-octane, thrill-a-minute contest.

If the second leg is anywhere near as good as the first, the supporters are in for a terrific night at the Etihad.

One of those packed inside the magnificent new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Tuesday night was former player Andros Townsend, who now plays for Crystal Palace.

Townsend started his career at Spurs, making 93 appearances for the club he holds dear, refusing to celebrate when he scores against them.

He was lucky enough to come on as a substitute as Palace became the first visitors to the new stadium last week - Spurs winning 2-0.

And he was back, this time in the stands, for the first leg win over Man City on Tuesday night.

He tweeted before kick-off: "Views," with three emojis and a photo of the ground in all its glory.

And his presence in the ground garnered a huge reaction from the Tottenham supporters on social media, with many using the "one of our own" phrase that is oft chanted at Harry Kane.
