One of Newcastle's landmark properties has been sold with a local buyer believed to have secured the totally transformed Merewether House at 285 Glebe Road.
The 1910 residence was in a run-down condition when purchased by Nero Group Australia in January of last year. They breathed new life into the home during a five-month restoration and renovation before listing it for sale in September.

The result was a four-bedroom, two-bathroom home with ocean and city views and four separate living spaces, which included a whiskey room. A luxury parents' retreat came complete with its own bar and private access to a plunge pool.
But the property's most recognisable feature would have to be its dining hall - a glassed-in room topped by an eye-catching turret.
PRD Newcastle and Lake Macquarie's Natalie Tonks, Mark Kentwell and Chasse Ede took over the listing this year and sold it for an undisclosed price on May 14. The Newcastle Herald understands it was marketed with a guide of $2.2 million to $2.4 million.
