One of Europe's biggest toilet paper makers creating 50 jobs in South Wales

One of Europe's biggest toilet paper and kitchen towel manufacturers is expanding its Bridgend factory in an investment creating 50 jobs.

German-owned WEPA Group is investing in a new paper machine with an annual production capacity of 65,000 tons. The machine will start production next spring.

The investment also safeguards 280 jobs at the factory, which produces toilet paper and kitchen towels for the UK market.

Martin Krengel, chief executive of the WEPA Group: "Our willingness to invest in state-of-the-art technology is an important part of our future-oriented Group strategy.

"The UK remains an important growth market for us in Europe despite COVID-19 and Brexit. With the planned investments we will be able to meet our customers' expectations in terms product quality and sustainability even better in the future.

"It is important to us to produce for our customers in the UK in their own country. For the Bridgend site this means a doubling of production capacity.”

The investment strengthens WEPA's position as Europe's third biggest manufacturer in the hygiene paper market.
