One of Britons’ biggest fear this Halloween is never-ending Brexit negotiations

After another Brexit delay announced today, Britons say the political situation is literally haunting them, a new Groupon study found.

More than half of the 2000 surveyed (58%) revealed never-ending Brexit discussions to be their biggest fear this Halloween, before spiders (41%), ghosts (24%) and clowns (19%).

But the political situation is surely inspiring party-goers, as Boris Johnson and Larry the Downing Street cat are the two most popular costumes this October 2019.

However, Jeremy Corbyn has been voted the scariest politician by a fourth of the surveyed, slightly before the Prime Minister (22%).

Gabrielle Stafford, CMO for Groupon International, says: “It doesn’t matter which way you voted, Brits find the current state of politics a little bit scary. It’s no longer spiders and ghosts that Brits fear most, but politicians!“

"Ordeeeeer!" is the new scary scream

To take the spooky political fun even further this autumn season, professional pumpkin carvers have designed politically-led pumpkin stencils, to give your pumpkin the face of the most famous politicians - or as they call them, ‘Westmonsters’:

Boo!-ris Johnson, Conservative

Scaremy Corbyn, Labour

Jo Grimson, Lib Dem

Nigel Fear-age, Brexit Party

John Bercow, ‘Spooker of the House’

The designs have already been downloaded for free more than 200 times, and will grace the orange skin of several of the 21 million pumpkins which will be carved in the UK this year.
