The original inventor and architect of a one-of-a-kind bubble house in Ipswich, Australia, is selling the impressive home he has lived in since it was first built 36 years ago – and buyers will certainly get their money’s worth.
Graham Birchall designed the 20-room house, which is spread across three floors in 11 intersecting circular domes.
The domes took 10 years to build and are made up of over 350,000 wire ties covered in a thin layer of cement and were constructed using bespoke tools designed especially for the job.
The home is being sold with Helene Shephard from First National Action Realty, and sellers describe the property as "an ode to strength, beauty and the simplicity of the humble circle".
If living in a bubble wasn’t impressive enough, the home is also decked out with all the mod-cons a person could ask for, including a media room, sports bar, library and golf tee.
And it's the ultimate place to relax, with a wine cellar, spa bath, and rain shower, as well as a terrace for sunny days.
The custom-made kitchen was crafted by a traditional master boat builder and carpenter to fit in the quirky circular space, and there’s even an internal water cooling fountain, which was designed exclusively for the space and acts as the building's air-conditioning system.
When it’s too cold for air-conditioning there’s a wood-burner to light up, which is sure to keep you toasty warm.
The attention to detail can also be seen in the windows, which feature special circular iris shutters which are inspired by camera shutters and operated by remote control.
The property is set in 0.5 hectares of land with a riverfront location and a garage with space for four cars.
