One new coronavirus death in Liverpool but other Merseyside boroughs hit harder

Liverpool has seen one of its lowest recorded death tolls today - with one city death recorded according to the NHS update.

The additional tragedy was recorded at the city's main University NHS Trust - with all smaller city trusts registering zero additional deaths in today's bulletin.

It means Liverpool's total deaths in hospitals from Covid-19 stands at 278.

The breakdown for the city's Trusts is as follows:

Liverpool University Teaching Trust - 259

Liverpool Heart and Chest - 12

The Walton Centre - 5

Alder Hey Hospital Trust - 2 (both adults)

Other Merseyside boroughs have unfortunately suffered larger increases in recorded deaths in today's update.

The largest of these was at the St Helens and Knowsley Trust, which covers hospitals in St Helens and Whiston.

The Trust continues to be hit hard by fatalities, with nine extra deaths in today's update taking its total to 133.

The Southport and Ormskirk NHS Trust, which runs hospitals in both towns, has today reported a further six deaths and now has a total of 99.

The Warrington and Halton NHS Trust has reported a further two deaths to take its total to 64.

Wirral's main hospital Trust, which has faced a difficult time like so many, will have today been relieved to record no new deaths - its figure remains at 138.
