One new coronavirus death and seven new cases recorded in Nottinghamshire in the last 24 hours

One more coronavirus-related death has been recorded and a total of seven new cases of coronavirus confirmed in Nottinghamshire in the last 24 hours, according to new data released today (July 16).

In Nottingham, 1,183 cases have been recorded, a rise of one since yesterday, while in the same time period cases in Nottinghamshire have risen by six to 2,991.

This is the breakdown for each region of Nottinghamshire:

  • Gedling - 376 (no change)
  • Rushcliffe - 388 (+1)
  • Mansfield - 342 (no change)
  • Newark and Sherwood - 316 (+1)
  • Ashfield - 571 (+1)
  • Broxtowe - 429 (no change)
  • Bassetlaw - 569 (+3)

Across the UK, 66 more people have died after testing positive for Covid-19 – bringing the total up to 45,119.

The number of confirmed cases has risen by 642 to 292,552.

One new death has been recorded for a trust operating in Nottingham, the Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust, bringing the total number of deaths since the pandemic started to 286.

The number of deaths in Nottinghamshire hospital trusts is as follows:

Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - 272 (one new death recorded)

Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust - 13 (no change)

Ramsay Health UK - Nottingham Woodthorpe - 1 (no change)

In a special address to the House of Commons on Thursday, Health Secretary Matt Hancock said the local lockdown in Leicester will be partially relaxed, including for schools and early years childcare.

He told the Commons virus rates in the city “still remain well above the national average and the average for surrounding areas”.

He added: “We’re now in a position to relax some but not all of the restrictions that were in place.

“From July 24 we’ll be removing the restrictions on schools and early years childcare and taking a more targeted approach to the restrictions on non-essential retail.”
