One Nation senator's media adviser charged with assault

Black leaves a watch house in Brisbane after being charged.

One Nation senator Malcolm Roberts' media adviser and former Logan City councillor Sean Black is facing multiple assault charges dating back to 2007.

He was arrested and taken into custody about midday on charges including common assault and assault occasioning bodily harm.

The 39-year-old appeared calm in the dock during a brief hearing in the Brisbane Magistrates Court.

He was granted bail, which was unopposed by police.

Magistrate Jacqueline Payne found he did not pose a flight risk, after the court heard Black had plans to travel to England with his wife in September.

Black had previously worked on former Liberal National Party MP Michael Pucci's 2012 election campaign and was associated with the Labor Party in the 1990s.

The former real estate agent was also a councillor in the Logan City Council, south of Brisbane, being elected in 2008 until 2012.

He was also previously married to fellow councillor Hajnal Ban.

The matter will return to court on June 19.
