'Battler bus' back on the road with fresh doughnuts after mishap

Pauline Hanson's touring election bus suffered a broken hose that left it stranded at a petrol station for several hours in central Queensland this morning.

The so-called One Nation "battler bus" has been touring regional Queensland since Monday.

The bus pulled into a petrol station in the town of Marlborough, north of Rockhampton about 8:30am and did not hit the road again until 11:30am.

Shortly before resuming the journey north, Senator Hanson was asked whether the wheels had come off her regional tour.

"Oh come on, it was a loose hose, OK? I picked it up, I knew there was something wrong," she said.

"The engine's fine — do you think that's going to stop me?

"I'm heading north then I'm heading back down south, it's all good."

Senator Hanson admitted it was an unwelcome distraction that put them behind schedule, but vowed to keep moving.

"Listen we all have our ups and downs in life, and I can tell you I've had mine.

"But do you know what was great about this?

"I've had a truckie pull up, he actually came across and he was under the bus here trying to help out.

"Then I had the guy in here cook fresh doughnuts, came out and gave me some fresh doughnuts, so hey, listen, it was a great stop.

"This is what it's about — Aussies stopping and helping other Aussies on the side of the road, it's good."

Senator Hanson said they would travel to the north Queensland town of Bowen today.

In Yeppoon yesterday, Senator Hanson demanded a casino be built on Great Keppel Island, off Rockhampton, in exchange for One Nation's support in any balance of power negotiations.

State party leader Steve Dickson is not taking part in the One Nation bus tour.

Senator Hanson denied acting as a "puppet master", but said she did expect to be consulted about Queensland Government issues.

"I'm going to have an impact in this as well. I'm not just going to be on the sidelines," she said.
