One more Scot dies overnight as coronavirus deaths across UK rise to 1,228

1,228 deaths and 19,522 positive cases

The number of people diagnosed with coronavirus in the UK to have died has risen by more than 200 overnight.

The Department of Health and Social Care has confirmed that 1,228 have died in total - an increase from 1,019 yesterday.

19,522 people have now tested positive for COVID-19 across the UK as of 9am today.

A total of 127,737 have been tested in the country, with 10,8215 tests returning negative.

The news comes ahead of First Minister Nicola Sturgeon daily briefing this afternoon.

One more person has died after testing positive for coronavirus in Scotland overnight, taking the total there to 41, the Scottish Government has announced.
