One more person with coronavirus has died in our region's hospitals.
It means the death toll from the virus in hospitals in Greater Manchester since the start of the pandemic is 5,891, according to NHS figures.
Each the day the health service in England releases an update on coronavirus-related deaths.
These are deaths where the person had tested positive for the virus or where COVID-19 was mentioned on their death certificate.
The daily figures sometimes include previously uncounted deaths that took place several days - or even weeks ago.
Today it was confirmed one more person had died with the virus.
The patient died at the Tameside and Glossop NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Tameside General Hospital, on Wednesday, May 5 it has confirmed.
It was one of two deaths recorded in the wider North West region, with one new death also recorded in Liverpool.
Nationally there were 15 deaths recorded including five in the East of England and three in the North East Yorkshire.
Previous weeks' data has shown there can be a lag in the reporting of deaths at the weekends.
