Last month, former NFL quarterback and current Mets prospect Tim Tebow announced his engagement with former Miss Universe Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters in Jacksonville.
The entire proposal was meticulously planned by the Heisman Trophy winner. Tebow told Nel-Peters that they were going to surprise his dad with a new truck at a belated Christmas dinner. He had a car dealership lend him a truck to even add to the story. All while Tebow flew her family in from South Africa and had a musical guest sing their favorite song.
It was a fairy-tale-esque proposal. But Tebow made one mistake.
In an appearance on Good Morning America, Tebow described the elaborate proposal but felt compelled to admit that he identified his now-fiancée Nel-Peters as his “girlfriend” right after the proposal.
“I totally messed up. Right after we got engaged, and I introduced her as my girlfriend one time.”
Oh no, Tim.
Luckily, it does sound like their relationship can survive that major blunder.
