FLAGS will go back up at One Mile beach from Monday, Port Stephens Council has announced.
Lifeguards will go back to work on the popular strip as part of winter patrols, whcih will run until September 25.
Mayor Ryan Palmer said the return was possible as coronavirus restrictions eased, but noted it was important to observe the guidelines and stay alert.
Those rules require swimmers to stay physically distanced and avoid gathering in groups larger than 10.
"We know how important it is to get outdoors and enjoy all that Port Stephens has to offer - but it's important to ensure we still take the necessary precautions," he said.
Patrols will run from 9am to 4pm.
The decision follows the reopening of leisure travel in NSW from Monday, which has left Port Stephens tourism businesses divided as the pandemic continues.
