One man dead, another charged with manslaughter after domestic violence 'altercation' at Darwin's Jingili Water Gardens

Police said they expect to charge a 39-year-old man with manslaughter. (ABC News: Hamish Harty)

A man has died and another man has been charged with manslaughter following what police have described as a domestic violence incident in Darwin's northern suburbs.

Police say two men, aged 41 and 39, were involved in an "altercation" that resulted in the older man's death at the Jingili Water Gardens on Wednesday night.

In a media release issued on Thursday afternoon, police said the 39-year-old man was arrested at the scene.

Police confirmed on Friday morning that they had charged him with manslaughter.

They said the two men were known to each other and the "assault" took place between 9pm and 11pm.
