One killed, 8 injured in Phitsanulok collision

PHITSANULOK: A van and a pick-up collided on Phitsanulok - Lomsak road in Nakhon Thai district on Sunday afternoon, killing the van driver and injuring the eight passengers.

The accident occurred at about 1.30pm between kilometre markers 80-81 in tambon Ban Yaeng near the Thung Salaeng Luang National Park.

A police investigation revealed that a Toyota Commuter van driven by Kanaphan Suwanchansing, 27, of Pathum Thani's Khlong Luang district, slid across the road median on a curve and collided head-on with an oncoming Ford Ranger in the rain.

The van driver was killed. The eight van passengers were injured; they were admitted to Nakhon Thai Hospital.

The two vehicles were badly damaged. The pick-up driver was not hurt.
