A woman says the baker made a mistake when putting together her sister’s gender reveal cake. The couple realizes what caused the confusion after they open the doctor’s papers.
In a video with over 4.7 million views, TikToker Hannah Nihem (@hannahnihem) shares a clip of her sister and partner cutting into a small cupcake. They previously instructed the baker to fill the cake with icing corresponding with the gender of their unborn baby: pink for a girl or blue for a boy.
The couple cuts the cake in half, revealing blue icing.
“Everyone was wrong! We’re having a boy,” the father exclaims. However, the woman asks if they should “make sure” and grabs the medical paperwork confirming the gender.
Was the gender reveal cake wrong?
The couple opens up the paperwork, revealing a blue sticky note. They scan the paper, looking for the line that confirms that they will be having a boy. The father even remarks, “blue sticker,” thinking that the sticky note was used to confirm the gender reveal color for the baker.
But when the child’s mother lifts the sticker, she realizes something shocking.
“Wait!” she exclaims, pointing to the paper. Turns out, the blue sticker was placed to cover up the gender on the paper, not to indicate that the baby was a boy. The couple realizes they are having a girl.
On-screen text reads, “Best plot twist ever,” with a picture of their one-year-old baby girl.
What did viewers think of the mix-up?
In the comments, viewers note that the baker likely figured the blue sticky note meant the gender was a boy.
“‘Blue sticker. Idk what any of this means’ the baker, probably,” one writes.
“She thought it was a boy because of the BLUE POST IT,” another remarks.
“To be fair why would they use a blue post it lmao,” a third adds.
Others say they’ve experienced similar gender reveal fails.
“Same thing happened to us!!! Our waiter had ONE JOB lmao baby boy coming this November,” one commenter says.
“This was literally EXACTLY how my wife and I found out we were having a girl too. Like word for word how it went down,” another writes.
“Same thing happened to me. Except we didn’t find out until she popped out. Went almost the entire 9 months thinking we were having a boy,” a third shares.
“That’s exactly what happened to me my mom saw blue sticky note on the sonogram and did a whole party for a boy, then we looked at the sonogram and it said I’m a girl,” a fourth adds.
