One Irish Penneys store has busiest of queues as handful of shops go 24 hours

The people of Cork can't get enough of Penneys it seems with the Wilton store having the longest queues of all the stores in the UK and Ireland overnight.

Primark were updating customers on their Twitter feed as to how long people would have to wait outside their stores in the middle of the night.

And Penneys in Wilton was the only one to have a wait time of an hour or more in both Ireland and the UK.

People who arrived at the shop up until 1am last night had to endure a queue time of an hour or so according to the official Twitter account.

All other stores - including the other two 24 hour shops in Blanchardstown and Dundrum - had wait times of in and around 30 minutes all night.

Penneys have reminded shoppers to be mindful of social distancing and safety measures if heading to their stores this weekend.

A spokesperson said: "For a safe shopping experience we have extensive safety measures in all our stores including social distancing protocols, limited number of customers in store, hand sanitisation stations, Perspex screens or cubicles at tills, required use of face coverings & increased cleaning."
