One student was injured and another in custody after a shooting at Forest High School in Marion County Friday morning, a sheriff's office spokeswoman said.
The injured student was being treated by medics, spokeswoman Valerie Strong said. A school spokesperson called the injury non-life-threatening. Deputies got the call about the shooting at 8:39 a.m. and had the student who they suspect fired the weapon at 8:42 a.m., Strong said.
Deputies are searching the school to make sure there are no other threats, Strong said.
She asked residents to avoid the area. Parents can pick up their children at the First Baptist Church of Ocala, 2801 SE Maricamp Road.
Forest High School is located at 5000 SE Maricamp Road near Ocala, just west of State Road 35.
All other schools in Marion County were put on a partial lockdown as a precaution, an Ocala Police Department spokesperson said. There were no reported threats at other schools.
