One injured and one arrested after 'apparently deliberate' crash outside Citywest Shopping Centre

One man was arrested and another was rushed to hospital after an Audi was driven into a car outside a Dublin Shopping Centre.

Dramatic scenes unfolded outside Citywest Shopping Centre at around 5.30pm on Wednesday as gardai say they believe the crash may have been deliberate.

Footage shows the white Audi reversing away before accelerating into the other car appearing to catch a man getting in the driver's door.

It then reverses away before brave onlookers run in and drag the Audi driver and a passenger out and hold them.

The scene was cordoned off as emergency services attended and one man was rushed to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A suspect was also arrested and taken to Tallaght Garda Station.

A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí in Tallaght are investigating an incident which occurred outside the City West Shopping Centre this afternoon at approximately 5.30pm, Wednesday 23rd October 2019.

"From initial investigations it appears that a car deliberately drove into another car injuring a man, one man has been arrested in connection with this investigation and is currently detained at Tallaght Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 – Criminal Justice Act 1984.

"The injured man was taken to Tallaght University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries,

"Investigations are continuing."
