One person is in custody after barricading themselves from Evanston police Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Evanston police responded to a call of shots fired in the 1800 block of Dodge Avenue, according to a tweet from the department.

When they arrived on scene they learned a person had fired shots at someone and then retreated into a residence, police said.

Area residents were advised to avoid the 1700-1800 block of Dodge Avenue and surrounding streets.

About 30 minutes later, Evanston police posted on Twitter that the man had been taken into custody without incident and there were no injuries reported.

Evanston police are still investigating the initial incident.
