One in 72 young adults in Bristol are testing positive for Covid-19

The latest coronavirus data shows that one in 72 young adults aged between 30-34 across Bristol are currently testing positive for Covid-19.

It comes just a day after Bristol recorded its highest-ever figure for daily coronavirus cases since the pandemic began.

In the seven-day period leading to December 16, there were five age groups in Bristol where more than one in 100 people were testing positive for the virus.

Since then cases have surged even more and with a five-day lag in data, this number could be even higher as daily cases continue to rise in the region.

Young adults have seen the highest rates because they're far more likely to mix and socialise in the build-up to Christmas through parties, shopping and catch-ups.

Age groups 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39 and 40-44 all have a rate where more than one in 100 people are currently infected with the virus.

It is also likely that the older age groups have a lower infection rate due to the fact they were able to receive their third vaccination dose earlier than the younger age brackets.

Below you can find the number of people affected for each age group within the Bristol region, up to December 16.
