More people have got coronavirus as the moment than ever before according to official estimates.
The most recent Office for National Statistics (ONS) data estimated that 52,200 people in Wales had the coronavirus which is 1.72% of the population.
Though there is margin for error either way the figure suggest that around 1 in 60 people in Wales has the virus.
The modelling also suggests that the percentage of those testing positive, another key factor the Welsh Government use when making decisions, has increased sharply in recent weeks in Wales.
The chart below shows how much cases soared in the December after a brief lull after the fire-break lockdown.
The spike is believed to be in part down to a new strain of the virus which is easier to spread, however the mutation is not as prevalent in Wales as it is in parts of South East England, suggesting different factors are also at play.

Wales is currently in period of level four lockdown in order to try and get the virus under control.
The rate of the virus in Wales is not just high in a UK context. Figures last week suggested that Wales had the second highest rates of the virus in the world behind Lithuania.
In an interview with WalesOnline the First Minister Mark Drakeford indicated that, if no action had been taken to curb the cases that by the middle of January 50% of NHS capacity in Wales would be dedicated to fighting the virus.
