One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest play actress steps down

Nurse Ratched Michelle Gomez The Old Vic
  • Michelle Gomez has withdrawn from the London stage adaptation of One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest due to "personal reasons".
  • Gomez was originally cast as the formidable Nurse Ratched in the production at The Old Vic theatre.
  • Olivia Williams, known for her work in The Crown and The Sixth Sense, will now assume the role of Nurse Ratched.
  • The Old Vic announced the casting change on Monday, 23 March, a week before previews were scheduled to begin on 1 April.
  • The play, directed by Clint Dyer, runs from 1 April to 23 May and aims to explore themes of colonialism with an all-Black cast portraying the patients.
