One expert thinks Joe Mixon could lead NFL in rushing next season

A year ago, despite a clearly-gone coaching staff and down season, Joe Mixon ended up leading the AFC in rushing.

One expert thinks Mixon might be able to do even more in 2019.

NFL Network’s Brian Baldinger recently worked through 10 reasons Mixon will end up leading the NFL in rushing next year.

Bengals fans who saw every game last year know the drill — Mixon’s patience, ability to manipulate defenders with his eyes, make guys miss in the backfield and burst of outside speed are just some of the reasons.

That would explain why Mixon only needed 14 games to lead the AFC last year, taking 237 attempts for 1,168 yards and eight touchdowns on a 4.9 per-carry average, all behind a line that was clearly the team’s weakest link and saw a first-round pick arrive to save it this offseason.

On paper, Mixon should be even better in 2019 and Baldinger’s in-depth video goes a long way in showing why. If he’s healthy and the line is improved, Mixon should be in contention for a rushing title.
