One Direction plotting 'TV special or single' but rule out reunion tour

One Direction are planning to mark their ten-year anniversary but it wont be with a reunion tour.

The band, who were originally made up Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan and Zayn Malik, became a huge success after being put together on The X Factor in 2010.

Then in 2015 Zayn sensationally quit the group and four years ago the rest of the lads went on an indefinite hiatus to work on solo projects.

Ever since fans around the globe have been hoping the Best Song Ever hitmakers will reunite on a reunion tour, with many thinking that 2020 would be the year as it marks their ten-year anniversary.

However, Page Six claims that the British boy band have ruled out a reunion tour but that Harry, Liam, Niall and Louis are keen to do something special like a TV special or record a new single for their loyal fans as they celebrate the milestone.

It is not clear is Zayn wants in on the action.

A source told the outlet, “There’s still a long way to go and a lot of hurdles. Obviously, at the moment anything they do would have to be done virtually.

“But there’s a lot of goodwill between them now and they want to make something happen.”

It comes as One Direction's Harry, Liam, Louis and Niall decided to re-follow Zayn on social media.

The online gesture could be viewed as an olive branch between the bandmates to make peace with one another in order to work on a new project.

Zayn is yet to follow back his former bandmates.

The former members, minus Zayn, have also re-followed the official One Direction Twitter account and the group’s former website has been reactivated - hinting that something is brewing for the band.

All of the group’s albums are also now back on Apple Music - so for now fans can reminisce about One Direction's glory years as they tune into the streaming service.
