The first raft of headliners for the Apple Music festival in London in September have been announced. Four acts have been named for the event, which was previously called the iTunes festival, and which takes place at the Roundhouse in north London.
The headliners announced so far are: One Direction (supported by Little Mix) on 22 September; Disclosure on 25 September; Pharrell Williams on 26 September and Florence + the Machine (supported by James Bay on 28 September).
This year’s festival will consist of 10 nights of music, and has been renamed to promote Apple Music, the company’s new service combining streaming, the Beats 1 internet radio service and Apple Music Connect. The service received its biggest boost earlier this month when it hosted the release of Dr Dre’s Compton soundtrack album.
Those who hope to attend the shows have to win tickets through Apple. The event has run in London since 2007, taking place at the ICA, then Koko, before moving to the Roundhouse in 2009. Among the acts who have headlined shows in he festival are Foo Fighters, Paul McCartney, Ed Sheeran, Ellie Goulding, Lady Gaga and Elton John.
