A man in his late 90s has died and five new cases of COVID-19 have been recorded in the Hunter New England area.
The five cases were recorded in the 24 hours to 8pm Thursday, with 390 cases across the entire state from 128,000 tests.
At least 60 of the new NSW cases were infectious in community, Premier Gladys Berejiklian said.
Two deaths were recorded. The Hunter New England man in late 90s was part of the aged care home outbreak at Edgeworth. He was vaccinated but Ms Berejiklian said he was under palliative care.
The second death was a woman in her 40s in South Western Sydney who was not vaccinated.
NSW Health's Dr Maryanne Gale said one of the Hunter's new cases was linked to the residential aged care facility outbreak, while four were linked to previously reported cases.
One case each is from Lake Macquarie, Newcastle, Maitland, Port Stephens and Armidale.
This brings the total number of cases in the Hunter New England health district to 82 since August 5.
There are currently 391 COVID cases admitted to hospital, 64 of which are in intensive care and 30 require ventilation.
There were 105,000 people across the state who received COVID-19 vaccinations on Thursday.
The Premier said NSW was on track for 70 per cent of the population being fully vaccinated by the end of October.
