One dead, two seriously injured in major Stuart Highway collision

One person died and two others were seriously injured in the crash.

One person is dead and two other people have been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a collision on the Stuart Highway on Saturday night.

Three vehicles were involved in the crash just south of Noonamah at about 9.00pm, with one person declared dead at the scene.

Both lanes of the Stuart Highway between Cox Peninsula Road and Townend Road were shut after the crash.

According to NT Police's road toll website there have been 26 fatal crashes on Northern Territory roads in 2020.

The 2020 toll compares to 23 deaths on NT roads at the same time last year.

There were 35 deaths on NT roads in 2019.

NT Police have urged anyone who was in the area of the crash at the time contact them on 131 444.
