A man is dead and three other people have life-threatening injuries after a violent incident in the Canberra suburb of Page.

Police found a seriously injured man when they arrived at a Braine Street property about 9am on Saturday.

Another man, who was also wounded, then rushed towards them before officers tasered him.

Police later discovered the body of a man and a seriously injured woman.

All three people hurt have life-threatening injuries and have been taken to Canberra Hospital, police said.

Detective Superintendent Scott Moller said one of the men and the woman were undergoing surgery.

"There is no ongoing risk to the public," he told reporters.

"We're still working through all the issues in relation to the incident. We're still piecing together the circumstances."

Police have not revealed if a weapon was involved and have not shed any light on what sparked the violence.

"The investigation is in its infancy and we have not yet had a chance to go into the intricacies of it."

Police will remain at the scene throughout the night and into tomorrow.
