A man has died and two others has been left seriously injured after a car crash on a major Scots road.
The fatal collision between a Vauxhall Astra and Ford Kuga occurred on the A6106 at Hillcrest, Danderhall.
Emergency services rushed to the area in Midlothian at around 12.35pm on Tuesday, December 28.
However, despite their best efforts, the 41-year-old male driver of the Vauxhall Astra was pronounced dead at the scene.
The female driver and male passenger of the Ford Kuga were taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment to serious injuries.
The road was closed for around five hours whilst enquiries were carried out following the incident, according to Police Scotland.
Sergeant Paul Ewing of the Road Policing Division said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who tragically lost his life and those who remain in hospital.
“Enquiries into the crash are ongoing and I am appealing to anyone who was driving on this stretch of road and who witnessed the crash to contact us.
“I would also be keen to hear from drivers who have dash-cam footage and would appeal to anyone who has not already spoken to officers to get in touch.”
