One dead and another in hospital after bad batch of steroids circulates in Swansea Bay

One person has died and another is in hospital and police believe it is linked to steroids being used in the Swansea Bay area.

South Wales Police is urging drug users across Swansea and Neath Port Talbot to be extra cautious as there are concerns a particularly bad batch of steroids is circulating.

The force said that within the last week one person had died and another was in hospital - both cases are believed to be linked to steroids being used.

Detective Inspector David Wells said: “Users of controlled drugs should be aware that they can never be 100% sure of exactly what they are taking. These drugs are illegal and there is every possibility that they may contain a cocktail of toxic ingredients.

“I would urge all drug users in the area to be cautious and to seek advice and support from local support services in order to try and protect themselves.”
