Man dies after fire rips through flat in Falkirk

A man has died after a fire ripped through a flat in Falkirk .

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) were called to the property on David's Loan at around 4.30am this morning to reports of a blaze in a first floor flat.

As a result of the fire a man died.

Around 30 firefighters tackled the flames with six appliances sent to the scence.

Fire crews remain on the scene, while an investigation into the fire is underway.

A spokeswoman for the SFRS said: "We were called at 4.30am on July 6 of reports of a fire in a first floor flat in the David's Loan area of Falkirk.

"Six appliances were sent to the scene.

"One casualty sadly passed away.

"Crews remain on the scene this morning and an investigation is underway."

David's Loan remains closed this morning as do Lomond Drive, Seaforth Road and Langlees Street in the town.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "As a result, a man has sadly died.  A joint investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances surrounding this fire."
