One dead after car, truck collide in west Auckland

A person died after the car they were driving collided with a truck in west Auckland early this morning.

The collision occured at the Te Atatu Rd and Roberts Rd intersection in Te Atatu South at 5am.

The Fire Service was called to the crash at 5.05am. The driver, who was fatally injured, was cut out of the vehicle.

There were no other reported serious injuries and no other persons had to be assisted by the Fire Service, a northern Fire Service spokesman said.

A section of Te Atatu road is currently closed. Diversions at McLeods Rd, Coniston Ave and Roberts Rd are expected to be in place for several hours.

Emergency services were still at the scene as of 5.40am.

The Serious Crash Unit is investigating.
