‘ONE Championship 100: Century’ lineup to feature dual fight cards on same day

ONE Championship’s centennial event has taken full shape in the form of not one, but two fight cards.

“ONE Championship 100: Century” takes place Oct. 13 at Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo.

The event features some of the most well-known names the promotion has to offer, including Demetrious Johnson, Eddie Alvarez, Angela Lee, Aung La N Sang and Bibiano Fernandes.

The first card of the two-part event takes place in the morning local time and airs on TNT in the U.S. The second card takes place that evening, and will be “broadcast globally to 140+ countries via the world’s largest television networks,” according to a Monday news release from the promotion.

The opening card is headlined by an atomweight title fight between champion Lee (9-2) against flyweight champ Jingnan Xiong (14-1).

In March, the pair of fighters competed in a 125-pound title fight that saw Xiong dethrone then-double champ Lee. With less than four minutes left in their scheduled 25-minute bout, Xiong captured the title by TKO with a body kick and subsequent punches.

The first half of the two-card tandem also features the ONE flyweight and lightweight grand prix finals. In the flyweight final, former UFC champion Johnson (29-3-1) squares off with Danny Kingad (13-1). And former UFC and Bellator champ Alvarez (30-7) faces Saygid Guseyn Arslanaliev (8-1) in the lightweight finale.

The second card of day is headlined by La N Sang (16-7) as he defends his light heavyweight title against ONE heavyweight champion Brandon Vera (25-10).

Plus, ONE bantamweight champ Fernandes (23-4) battles Kevin Belingon (20-6) for the fourth time. In their head-to-head history, Fernandes holds two victories to Belingon’s one. However, Fernandes’ tie-breaking victory in their trilogy bout in March was controversial because Belingon was disqualified for strikes to the back of the head.

Veteran fighter Shinya Aoki (43-9), as well as UFC veterans Arjan Bhullar (9-1) and Hernani Perpetuo (20-7), are also scheduled for the latter card.
