One boxer literally had his hair punched off of his head. Jarrell Miller won a split-decision contest over Kingsley Ibeh after having his hair unit dislodged. Impressive.
DAZN broadcast the fight from Madison Square Garden. The crowd in attendance was taken aback when his hairline went flying. The competitor chucked it into the crowd, Miller smirked, “It’s funny, man. I’m a comedian and you’ve got to make fun of yourself.” It’s good that he has such a willing sense of humor. Social media was on fire with reaction to the viral moment as soon as the clips began to float around.
Boxer Fabio Wardley was in the crowd near where the hairpiece went missing. He posted, “don’t worry, I’ll keep it safe.” The competitor wasn’t the only one to have some fun with the missing unit. Boxing Orbit captured Skye Nicholson posing with it on her head as well. In the middle of the ring after the fight, Miller had to know he’d be asked about the viral moment. And, to his credit, he gave us quite a story about the toupee in question. Check out what he had to say about it down below.
“I get to my mama’s house and I saw some shampoo bottles on the table,” Miller began when asked in the ring. “I shampooed and it was like ammonium bleach, I literally lost my hair like two days ago. So I called my manager and said, ‘Get me one of those manes,’ and I slapped that on real quick.”
Jarrell Miller loses his hair in boxing match

This is the second highest-profile moment for Miller. He’s only lost one professional bout. But, in 2019, he was supposed to collide with another boxer who has taken up his share of viral time in the last 12 months, Anthony Joshua. The two were scheduled to meet in the same ring that this toupee went flying in. But, that meeting was derailed by similar strange decision making on the part of Miller.
Miller failed a drug test before the scheduled contest against Joshua and was denied a license New York as a result. In the wake of that shocking decision, Miller took to Instagram to explain his part in that small bit of scandal.
Miller’s apology
He’s worked very hard to get back into the ring and keep piling on those wins. It’s clear that the man has some serious male fortitude, as evidenced by him rallying in this particular bout after that bizarre moment in the middle of it. But, this has been a bizarre career for one Mr. Miller.
“I messed up. There were a lot of ways to handle the situation, I handled it wrongly and I’m paying a price for it. I messed up a big opportunity and I’m hurting on the inside,” Miller said back then. “My heart is bleeding right now – I hurt my family, my friends, my team, my supporters. But, I’m owning up to it. I’m going to deal with it, I’m going to correct it. I’m going to come back better and I’m humbled by the experience.”
