One arrested after over a kilo of cannabis seized in Coolock raid

A 21-year-old man has been arrested after Customs Officers seized 1.2k of suspected herbal cannabis in a raid on a north Dublin apartment.

The seizure was made yesterday as part of intelligence led operation targeting organised crime groups operating in the area.

The joint operation was conducted by the Revenue’s Customs Service, the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and gardai from the Drugs Unit in Ballymun.

During the operation, Customs Officers seized the cannabis and other drug related paraphernalia at an apartment in Coolock.

The drugs have an estimated street value of €24,000.

The man arrested in connection with the find is currently detained under Section 2 of The Criminal Justice  (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Ballymun Garda Station.

Investigations into the seizure are continuing.

In a separate incident today, a package containing approximately 464 grams of herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of €9,280 (subject to analysis) was seized by Customs Officers at an apartment in the south inner city. 

A 27-year-old woman was arrested at the scene and is currently detained under Section 2 of The Criminal Justice (Drugs Trafficking) Act 1996 at Kevin Street Garda Station.
