In that hearing trial judge The Honourable Mr Justice Griffiths summed up how Bridgeman's mental health crisis panned out on the streets of Knowle on February 25.

The judge said: "These were terrifying attacks.

"They had a lasting effect on your victims.

"There was panic on the streets as you skated around with the blood dripping from your knife, obviously moving on, if you could, to other victims."

'I wish to make it clear that I'm very sorry'

Michael Mather-Lees, defending, read the court a note penned by his remorseful client which said: "I wish to make it clear that I'm very sorry that my mental health got to such a level that it resulted in harm to others.

"I wish I could change the grief I have caused, not only to the victims but to my friends and family.

"I was suffering from a disease of the mind, there was no malice, just a set of delusional beliefs which led me to hurt innocent people.

"I'm going to make sure I take all the help I can and make sure that nothing like this ever happens again."
