Ondrej Kudela hit with 10 game UEFA ban over Glen Kamara Rangers racism taunt that sickened football

Slavia Prague defender Ondrej Kudela has been hit with UEFA's minimum 10-game ban for the sickening racist abuse aimed at Glen Kamara.

The Ibrox star alleged he was called a "f******* monkey" by the Czech Republic international during the Europa League last 16 clash and the governing body have found Kudela guilty.

It is only the second time in nine years that UEFA have issued their strictest penalty after taking in evidence from a variety of witnesses after a gut-wrenching evening for involved.

Kamara has also been hit with a three-game suspension for an post-match incident involving Slavia inside the Ibrox tunnel on an evening where tempers were running high.

A UEFA statement said: "Following an investigation conducted by a UEFA Ethics and Disciplinary Inspector regarding the incidents that occurred during the 2020/21 UEFA Europa League Round of 16 second leg match between Rangers FC and SK Slavia Praha on 18 March 2021, and the subsequent proceedings opened against Mr. Ondřej Kúdela and Mr. Glen Kamara, the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body has taken the following decisions:

"To suspend SK Slavia Praha player, Mr. Ondřej Kúdela, for the next ten (10) UEFA club and representative team competition matches for which he would otherwise be eligible to play, for racist behaviour, which includes the one-match provisional suspension served by the player during SK Slavia Praha’s 2020/21 UEFA Europa League quarter-final first leg match against Arsenal FC on 8 April 2021.

"To suspend Rangers FC player, Mr. Glen Kamara, for three (3) UEFA club competition matches for which he would otherwise be eligible to play, for assaulting another player."

The Rangers stars lawyer Aamer Anwar has let rip on the outcome on social media branding the decision "a mockery".

He tweeted: "Kudela was found guilty by UEFA of racist abuse towards Glen Kamara and banned for 10 games, this is the barest minimum penalty, making a mockery of UEFA’s claims on taking racism seriously-we had appealed a 5 match ban for Glen Kamara and now reduced to three."
