Once Upon a Time in Hollywood: Watch worn by Brad Pitt's Cliff Booth branded 'inaccurate' by eagle-eyed fans

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood brings to life the Los Angeles of the late Sixties in great detail – but eagle-eyed viewers have spotted an apparent inaccuracy in the Quentin Tarantino film.

Cliff Booth, the character played by Brad Pitt, sports an eye-catching, hefty golden watch with a wide leather band, which features prominently in many shots of the comedy-drama.

But, while the film is clearly set in 1969 in a meticulously designed world, it appears that this particular watch didn’t exist at that moment in time.

According to the Worn and Wound website, which documents all things watch-related, the particular model spotted by Pitt in the movie is a Citizen 8110 Bullhead – as also noted by the website watch-id, which specialises in identifying watches worn on screen and/or by celebrities.

This specific watch dates back to the early Seventies, as opposed to the late Sixties, when the film is set.

The apparent anachronism is all the more surprising given the attention paid to production design, and the pains taken to recreate the Hollywood of that era.

Notably, the film includes shots of Hollywood Boulevard that revive the Sixties in great detail.

Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood is out in the US and will be released on 14 August in the UK.
